This New, Free Fan-Made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game is Totally Tubular, Dude

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are thirty-five years old. Holy shit. In that time they've appeared in some brilliant video games, as well as some stinkers. But most Turtles fans would likely agree that their arcade offerings were the highlight, while the home conversions were generally faithful representations. Developer Merso-X clearly agrees, since it has released a fan-made game incorporating the best elements of the NES, Game Boy and console arcade games.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rescue-Palooza! is a 17-stage beat 'em up with sixty — yes, 60 — playable characters. And the best thing? It's totally free. Check out the trailer below; you'll probably spot more than a few iconic arcade moments.

Seriously: who wouldn't want to play as April and smash goons with a microphone? 

The developer has really gone to town with this release, so we can only hope that Mirage Studios or Laird and Eastman don't go all Nintendo on the game and get it pulled down. Just in case, you should probably download it immediately.
