The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is incredibly well regarded. In fact, until Breath of the Wild came out it was seen by many as the greatest game ever (*cough* ahem, Dark Souls *cough*). Released on the N64 in 1998, Nintendo's three-dimensional masterpiece has been a favourite of speedrunners for quite some time.
Your average gamer will complete the title in twenty-five hours if you're just gunning for Ganon and around forty if you want to be all completionist about it.
So to hear the world record completion time has just been beaten, and now stands at 16 minutes and fifty-eight seconds is at once staggering and incredibly impressive. It was an 'Any percentage' completion, meaning there were no rules on what had to be done, how many baddies to eat or how to do it. Merely, the challenge was to reach the end credits as quickly as possibly.
So, sit back and watch agog, with jaw-dropped onto the table in total amazement as the world record completion time for one of Nintendo and the world's finest games is dusted:
