System Shock Redux, a crowdfunded remake / reboot of the cult classic PC shooter from 1994, was re-revealed during The Guerilla Collective Day One Presentation on Saturday with a brand new gameplay trailer.

Developed by Night Dive Studios, a relative unknown who acquired the rights to the System Shock IP in 2012, the game was first set to release in 2018 on consoles and PC before the project was put on hold. “I have put the team on a hiatus while we reassess our path so that we can return to our vision,” said Night Dive CEO Stephen Kick in an update to backers on Kickstarter (per Polygon). “We are taking a break, but not ending the project. System Shock is going to be completed and all of our promises fulfilled.”

A short demo for System Shock Redux is currently available to PC players via Steam, GOG and the Humble Store. After two years in the wilderness, it seems like fans may finally get the System Shock reboot they were promised.

The game is due for release in 2020 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
