Organisers of the GIST Gaming Istanbul 2018 event have today announced that this year’s event saw a massive surge in attendees, making it one of the top five largest gaming industry events in Europe. The event took place from February 1st until February 4th at Istanbul’s International Congress Centre in the heart of the Turkish capital. The event is only in its third year and this year saw a 20% growth from the previous year. In 2016, organisers saw approximately 50,000 visitors over the weekend which increased by a further 33% by the time the event ran for a second time in 2017.
For an event that has only been going a few years, it is already attracting a lot of AAA developers as well as plenty of indie developers from across Europe and into Asia. Exhibitors such as Ubisoft, Blizzard, Nvidia, Xbox and PlayStation all made their way to Turkey for the event that has given its organisers, GL Events, something to be proud of.
Cevher Eryürek, GIST Director at GL Events said: “GIST has so much to offer consumers, business leaders, developers and brands looking to communicate directly with their audience, and as we continue to see strong growth in both exhibition and networking, we’re focused on ensuring GIST goes from strength-to-strength.”
As well as being the go-to expo in Eastern Europe, the GIST events are proving to be an essential platform for developers and business to network to help grow the industry in the region. Not just through game distribution, but many hardware and peripheral developers use the event to talk about exports around the globe as well as to learn more about the industry through the dedicated speaker programme at the GIST Developers Conference.
Given that GIST 2018 has just finished, there is no news about what is going to happen at next year’s event but, if you are interested, make sure you check back with us to hear the latest.
