We may have had our first glimpse at the power of the PlayStation 5, courtesy of a video shared on Twitter by Takashi Mochizuki. The Wall Street Journal journalist posted the video in the early hours of this morning (5:26am GMT), with a report appearing on IGN shortly after.
The video in question appears to be the one that was shown off by Mark Cerny in an interview with Wired about the next generation of PlayStation. The video shows a comparison of the loading times and overall performance of the PS4 Pro to Sony’s latest hardware using Marvel’s Spider-Man. And whilst the video quality isn’t stellar, what can be seen looks incredible.
In later tweets Mochizuki — who has a long history of sharing insider information — shares a few other tidbits including a translation of the phrase “anytime, anywhere, without disconnections” when describing the console’s seamless technology. A promise from a Sony CEO that PlayStation will remain ‘the best place to play’ was also reported.
Little else is known about the PlayStation 5, but with more and more details leaking out about Sony’s next generation plans it’s possible that we’re not too far away from an official announcement.
