Who would have thought we’d be talking about Pokemon Snap in 2020? Well, here we are. Announced on Wednesday during the Pokemon Presents stream, New Pokemon Snap — yes that’s the title — is “coming soon” to Nintendo Switch.
The original Pokemon Snap was released in 1999 for the Nintendo 64 and has since gone on to become a cult classic. The on-rails wildlife photography game stars all your favourite Pokemon with this new version updated to reflect the now huge assortment of monsters that have appeared over the last twenty-one years. Of course, we don’t know just how many new Pokemon will feature, but eagle-eyed fans will spot a few new faces.
New Pokemon Snap was announced alongside Pokemon Cafe, a “free to start” puzzle game available for Switch and mobile, based around a loose cafe theme, updates to Pokemon Go (including the addition of Galarian Farfech’d), and the release of Pokemon Smile. Pokemon Smile is a cutesy routine hacker designed to encourage children to brush their teeth — of course it is!
Pokemon Smile is available to download now, whilst Pokemon Cafe launches next week. Both of these announcements come following the release of the Isle of Armour DLC, which is also available now to Pokemon Sword and Shield players. The big news, of course, is the return of Pokemon Snap.
