Deep Silver and 4A Games have released a new gameplay video for Metro Exodus aimed at welcoming newcomers to the franchise -- and it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Substituting the claustrophobic darkness of its tunnels for the wide open expanses of a post-nuclear Russia, 4A Games is clearly not letting up on its themes of survival and horror. Make no mistake, the world is just as deadly even when you have natural light and open ground to guide you.

It's been 5 years since Metro Redux was released (A remastering of Last Light and 2033 onto current-gen technology), and by the looks of things that long period of time has been very, very, well spent. It's fair to say that the Metro franchise is an underground smasher of a series, but with Metro Exodus, the developers sights seem firmly set on the AAA market.

We bet Bethesda felt that shade at 3:33...

Metro Exodus is released on February 15th 2019 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
