Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was a terrifically well-received game at launch in 2015 and is still played today by many around the world on all platforms. Since just after launch it has been known about a hidden cutscene in-game, thanks to data miners. It's set to be triggered if every player in the game gets rid of their nuclear weapons. Specifically, according to a Reddit subgroup setup to try and make this happen, it means that all nuclear weapons on the regional server corresponding to your console or platform must have been dismantled. In other words, the amount of nukes on your platform's server must be equal to 0.

Nuclear disarmament occurred at 12:00 GMT on February 2nd 2018 on the Steam version of the game. The only problem is that no-one knows how, or why - not even Konami:
It seems that in the world of Metal Gear - just as in the real world - the end of nuclear arms is not an easy thing to achieve, unless the code goes haywire, or some hackers make it so - two possible explanations for this week's events.
