Indie Developer Insert Disk 22 Announce Kickstarter Launch Date for Born Punk
Your decision will affect the course of human civilisation — are you sure you wish to proceed?
Indie developer Insert Disk 22 have announced their debut game, Born Punk, will be open for backing via Kickstarter on February 5th 2019.
Set in the not-so-distant future (well, 130 years), Born Punk is a point-and-click adventure game with heavy emphasis on permanence and narrative. You take the role of Eevi Rinasdottir, a corporate combat hacker who, after being infected by a rogue AI, sets out to uncover why she has been targeted. Naturally, there’s also a larger plot involving the fate of humanity — but it wouldn’t be much fun if it didn’t have a wider story arc! You can check out the brief teaser in the video below.
There is something incredibly satisfying about a game that not only wears its influences on its sleeves, but wholeheartedly embraces them. This looks just the part of a classic 80's/90's adventure and we're already getting Flashback and Beneath A Steel Sky vibes which is no bad thing at all.
The developer has also stated that there will be strong agency and a commitment to letting the player choose their own path through the entirety of the story, ensuring that the consequences are felt within the narrative.
Born Punk is slated to be released across console and PC should it be successful in its Kickstarter campaign. We'll be keeping an eye on this one!
