EA hasn't given us a Need For Speed game since 2017's lacklustre Need For Speed Payback. Harking back to the series' roots, the narrative-based racer wasn't anywhere near as good as the pair of Criterion iterations we saw at the start of this decade, perhaps leading to its recent self-enforced absence.
It's coming back, though. And we'll find out some actual details about it very soon according to a countdown clock which has appeared on the official site.
EA has spoken about this before, assuring us it would be released this year, likely meaning by end March 2020 as that's when its financial year runs until. Gamescom is coming up next week so whatever information we get tomorrow will be augmented by that event. We're hoping for a release this calendar year at Jump Dash Roll, as we've missed our share of arcade driving action, and the developer is Ghost Games which was setup after Criterion was radically downsized so perhaps they can find the qualities of those entries?
