The PlayStation 5 reveal event on Thursday was packed with new game reveals. Whilst games like Horizon Forbidden West, Demon’s Souls, Resident Evil Village and Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart stole the show, there were plenty of other titles to get excited about too.
So, without further ado, here is every other game revealed during the PlayStation 5 reveal event.
Bugsnax
Described as a “whimsical adventure game”, Bugsnax grabbed a lot of attention when it was revealed. Twitter is already very much in love with the game’s dream-pop theme tune (from Kero Kero Bonito), but it’s still not entirely clear what this game is. However, as something from the team behind Octodad: Dadliest Catch, it’s safe to say we can expect the ridiculous.
Sackboy’s Big Adventure
A spin-off from the LittleBigPlanet series, Sackboy leads this all new 3D platformer. Developed by Sumo Digital — the team behind LittleBigPlanet 3 — it appears to ditch the creation suite in favour of a more traditional platforming experience set within the LBP universe.
Godfall
The first PlayStation 5 game to ever be revealed, Godfall made its debut during the 2019 Game Awards back in December — ah, a simpler time. Developed by Counterplay Games (and published by Gearbox Publishing), Godfall is a third-person action game set in the fantasy world of Aperion. You play as a Valorian knight, a god-like warrior who can equip Valorplates (legendary armour) that transforms the wearer into a melee master. It’s fast-paced, third-person, melee combat in a vibrant fantasy setting.
Goodbye Volcano High
Goodbye Volcano High is billed as a “cinematic narrative adventure about the end of an era… and the beginning of a love story”. One of the most visually striking games from the PS5 reveal, but not for the usual reasons, it’s beautifully animated with a distinct art style. Coming 2021 to PS5 and PS4.
Astro’s Playroom
Astro’s Playroom will come pre-loaded on every PlayStation 5 and allows players to explore four different worlds as PlayStation’s latest mascot. Each world is based around the PS5’s components and showcases the new features of the DualSense controller. Following the critical success of Astro Bot: Rescue Mission PSVR, it’s unsurprising to see him return for PS5 even if it isn’t a full retail title.
JETT: The Far Shore
A collaboration between Superbrothers (Sword and Sworcery) and Pine Scented Games, JETT: The Far Shore is described as a “cinematic action adventure” which sees players creating a new future for “a people haunted by oblivion”. That sounds as cool as it does poetic. We know very little else about the game, other than it’s got interstellar themes, has a captivating art style, and will feature music by SCNTFC. Coming to PS5 and PS4 in holiday 2020.
Oddworld Soulstorm
A new Oddworld game was something few people would have predicted for the PlayStation 5 reveal, but here we are. Oddworld Soulstorm was introduced by series creator Lorne Lanning on Thursday and appears to be a throwback-style title and a new adventure for Abe.
Pragmata
Pragmata is a dystopian sci-fi-looking new IP from Capcom. In the trailer we see a figure in a space suit walking through a deserted New York City before finding a little girl, a hologram cat and being lifted into space. The game launches in 2022 and we don’t know anything else.
Solar Ash
Solar Ash is a third-person adventure set in a surreal and stylish world. The second game from Heart Machine, the creators of Hyper Light Drifter, the developer continues to uphold the vivid, illustory, aesthetic they have become known for. Coming to PS5, PS4 and PC in 2021.
Stray
Stray is a game in which you control a cat tasked with uncovering an ancient mystery to escape a desolate city and finally get home. Players will explore this unwelcoming, neon-bathed environment, interacting with the strange things that inhabit this broken place. An early showing during the PS5 reveal, the game’s ravaged cyberpunk design was incredibly striking. Developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by AnnaPurna Interactive, it’s coming to PlayStation 5 and PC in 2021.
Destruction All Stars
Destruction All Stars is a bright and colourful car combat game. Heavily inspired in its design by games like Overwatch, this PlayStation exclusive is all about taking out other players however you can. Developed by Lucid Games. No release window announced.
Tribes of Midgard
Another game from Gearbox Publishing, this time developed by Norsfell, Tribes of Midgard is a survival game with the goal of becoming a legendary viking. The game is currently in open beta on Steam and launches on PS5 in 2021.
The Pathless
A new game from the creators of Abzu, The Pathless puts you in the shoes of an archer who teams up with an eagle on an adventure through a seamless open world with no load screens. Playing as the Hunter and joined by an eagle companion, players will shoot their way through the open world, taking on huge monsters along the way. Initially revealed in 2018 and announced for a 2019 release on PS4, the game from Giant Squid (published by AnnaPurna Interactive) will now come to PS5 (as well as PS4 and PC) in 2020.
NBA 2K21
Look at that sweat. Look at it. Sports games, like driving games, can often be early indicators of developers pushing for realism. With NBA 2K21, 2K Sports is no different. Expect sports games to look very realistic — and very sweaty — during the next generation.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a charming-looking, story-based, action adventure from developer Ember Lab that combines combat and exploration. Playing as a spirit guide named Kena, players will discover and grow a team of spirits called the Rot to enhance their abilities and shape the world around them to help uncover the mysterious demise of a forgotten village. Coming holiday 2020 to PS5, PS4 and PC.
Little Devil Inside
One of the most intriguing games in the showcase, both from an art and gameplay perspective, Little Devil Inside is an open world action RPG from developer Neostream that is apparently set in a world that isn’t unfamiliar, but is filled with magical creatures and otherworldly foes. First revealed in 2015 for PS4, Xbox One and WiiU, the game is now a PlayStation console exclusive and is coming to PS5, PS4 and PC
