EGX 2017: VR and Platformer Goodness from Sunderland Studio, Coatsink
During the lead up to EGX 2017, we are going to be looking at some of the indie games that will be on show in the Rezzed area of this year’s show.
Coatsink have been around on the indie circuit for many years now, andthe Sunderland-based studio is well-known for their engaging and fun VR titles as well as their ability to create great stories and beautiful game designs. At this years EGX at the Birmingham NEC on 21st – 24th September, Coatsink will be showcasing two of their top games: Augmented Empire and Shu.
Shu is a lovely platformer set in a unique and engrossing world. In the game, you must guide the titular character through a series of levels as you try to escape an oncoming storm that is set to destroy the world as you know it. Along the way you recruit and rescue your friends, each having different abilities which you have to use to solve puzzles and scenarios. Shu is currently available on Steam and on PS4 and PS Vita.
With Augmented Empire, you are transported to a cyberpunk world run where your class is everything. If you earn a lot of money, you will live a life of luxury and want for nothing, but if you are a criminal or struggle on a day-to-day basis then you live in squalor and merely surviving is hard. You and your team must try to take down the barriers between society and try to create a more equal world. Augmented Empire boasts a great line-up of voice actors for an indie game including Kate Mulgrew who played Capt. Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Voyager and Nick Frost from films such as Paul and Shaun of the Dead. Augmented Empire is out now on Samsung Gear VR.
If these two games interest you, make sure you stop by the Coatsink stand in the Rezzed zone at EGX 2017 from September 21st until 24th. Tickets for the show are still available through the EGX website.
