OlliOlli World sends the skateboarding platform series in a whole new direction. Officially revealed back in April, we now have another trailer courtesy of IGN’s Summer of Gaming showcase, which gives us a better look at the game’s neon-pastel world of Radlandia.

“This is a game about flow,” says game director Tom Hegarty in the initial reveal trailer for OlliOlli World. “It’s about taking all the elements we give you, that we teach you throughout the game, and then you being able to combine them into something really creative”.

That creativity is certainly on show in the latest clip (above). A much more expansive game than the original OlliOlli and its sequel, OlliOlli World now appears to be a fully-fledged platformer with skateboarding at its core and a colourful “pick ‘n’ mix” world filled with eccentric looking, often anthropomorphised, characters.

“Forget paved with gold,” says the frog in the trailer, “[in Radlandia] there’s nothing but miles of the smoothest concrete, ramps and grinds”. A city tuned for skateboarding, with traditional platforming replaced with ollies, grabs, grinds and other tricks that make exploring the game’s world incredibly fun.

If it’s got one thing in common with its predecessors — as well as a great soundtrack — I hope OlliOlli World retains the ‘easy to play but difficult to master’ elements that made those games so incredibly addictive.

I guess we’ll find out this winter, when OlliOlli World launches on Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Oh, and it wasn’t the only skateboarding game shown off during the Summer of Gaming stream!
