E3 2021: Rainbow Six: Extraction Takes The Fight To An Alien Horde on September 16th
Rainbow Six: Extraction is coming on September 16th. Kicking off Ubisoft’s latest ‘Ubisoft Forward’ event, the cooperative first-person shooter will release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The game should feel familiar to [Rainbow Six] Siege players,” says Ubisoft and with good reason. Players will take control of many of the Operators from Ubisoft’s hugely successful shooter, but this is a very different game. Playing solo or with two other players, you’ll take on a horde of evolving aliens named Archeans in vast levels. How far you get depends on how you play and the tasks you complete. Along the way you’ll be given a variety of challenges to do that will help you in your quest for survival, but the goal is to make sure everyone makes it out alive — “It will be up to you and your squad to decide when to push forward, or when to extract.”
Whilst other PVE shooters of this ilk are all about blasting enemies away, strategy plays a huge role in Extraction. Tier 1 Grunts may be easy to handle one-on-one, but you don’t want to underestimate them in groups. Be sure to avoid enemies to avoid alerting them too. However, as you explore each map more deeply you’ll discover even deadlier threats.
Lurkers, and Spikers known for their armour piercing projectiles are just two of the threats you’ll come up against. Thankfully players will have plenty of weaponry, items and perks at their disposal to escape with your life. And if you get caught, well then a team will have to go back in to extract an MIA operator in a future mission.
