Elden Ring is real and it’s releasing on January 21st 2022. There’s even a trailer to prove it.
The final announcement of the Summer Games Fest Kickoff showcased the collaboration between Dark Souls and Bloodborne maestro Hidetaka Miyazaki company President of developer FromSoftware, and ‘Game of Thrones’ creator George R.R. Martin.
This is the first proper look at Elden Ring since a brief announcement trailer at E3 2019 that, frankly, didn’t show up very much. With news of the game not forthcoming, many feared that the game had disappeared for good. However, it emerged once more on Thursday evening with the below trailer:
In hushed tones the words "The Tarnished will soon return. Guided by grace once lost. The Golden Order is broken to its core." can be heard. The dark fantasy Souls games have become known for is on show throughout the trailer with gothic architecture aplenty, plus some truly awful looking creatures and other towering enemies.
The trailer also provided a limited look at combat, including the ability to fight on horseback, typical swordplay as well as the customary Souls bonfires.
We’ll hopefully get to see more from Elden Ring during the Bandai Namco E3 event next week. That kicks off at 10:25pm GMT on Tuesday June 15th.
Elden Ring will release on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. And at least one of those at Jump Dash Roll is bouncing off the walls right now. Are you?
