Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes and Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising — two new games from JPRG legend Yoshitaka Murayama — are on their way. Rising, a spin-off of the core game, will be the first of those titles and will launch in 2022, followed by Hundred Heroes which will launch in 2023.

Both titles received a trailer (below) during the Xbox + Bethesda presentation on Sunday. And, I'll be honest, I had little idea of their significance when the trailer first rolled. Don’t I feel foolish.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is a turn-based strategy game with a six-character battle system, whilst Rising is an action-RPG with platforming and town-building elements. Both games are under development at Rabbit & Bear Studios — a Tokyo-based team founded by former Suikoden developers. The pedigree is strong on this one.

“We’ve been working hard on the Eiyuden Chronicle franchise and love to see the amazing reactions from fans following our trailer at the Microsoft E3 event,” said Studio Lead  Yoshitaka Murayama.

The legendary developer has paired up with Game Director Osamu Komuta for the project, which he says tells  “a rich story” and one that is too big for just one game.

So whilst Hundred Heroes is very much the main game, Rising will tell stories of the world of Allraan before the great war and highlight characters who will appear in Hundred Heroes.

Both Rising and Hundred Heroes will launch on Xbox Game Pass. However, it has been confirmed that they will be available on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 as well.
