Luigi’s Mansion 3 is releasing in 2019 and we got a look at some of the new gameplay features during the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct presentation on Tuesday.
It’s a tale as old as time (well, as old as the GameCube): Mario and friends are lost within a spooky, spectre-filled, mansion and it's up to Luigi to save the day. Of course, the green half of the Mario Bros. has got a whole new arsenal of gadgets and attacks at his disposal to do just that.
In the gameplay trailer (above), we see Luigi slamming ghosts to more easily trap them, using his Poltergust in new ways to solve puzzles and we were introduced to Gooigi, a new gelatinous friend who can get to places Luigi can’t (provided there’s no water). This role can even be taken on by a co-op partner, should you want to play with a friend.
Speaking of which, Luigi’s Mansion 3 also features a ‘Scarescraper’ mode, which allows you to bust ghosts with friends in competitive or cooperative multiplayer. The competitive mode looked super chaotic (in a fun way), whilst co-op could prove to be the next ‘shout at your friends’ co-op game akin to Overcooked.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 is due for release in 2019. We can expect details in a future Nintendo Direct, no doubt. If you want to watch the E3 2019 direct, head over to Nintendo’s YouTube channel.
