E3 2019: FIFA 20 Takes Football Back to the Streets
EA Sports will bring football back to the streets in FIFA 20. A new trailer released on Saturday gave a quick glimpse at street football — or Volta Football — which will see a FIFA Street-style mode added to this year’s annual FIFA release.
An oft-requested feature by the FIFA community, the ability to play five-a-side (or less) street-style football will allow players to bring their favourite teams and players (as well as user-created players) to urban tarmac pitches around the world. It’s the biggest new addition to the best-selling series since The Journey.
Of course, the core on-pitch game has been improved too. As discussed during the EA Play livestream, FIFA 20 will see updates to a whole host of systems.
A new ‘Football Intelligence’ system is designed to “put you at the centre of every match”. This system encompasses Authentic Game Flow — an update to the time, space and positioning in game that is designed to make the game feel more like a real football match. This will give players even more control and allow them to use their own skills to better opponents.
Players will also have more control over ‘Decisive Moments’, with an overhaul to the way FIFA handles set pieces, tackling and finishing. Finally, a new ‘Ball Physics System’ will change the way the ball moves, interacts with players and the environment, again with the end goal of making a more realistic game of football.
FIFA 20 releases on September 27th, 2019 on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, with early access on September 19th available to EA Access subscribers.
