Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart is almost upon us and the social media team over at Insomniac Games is having a lot of fun. From Nathan Drake’s truck to Sly Cooper himself, a number of PlayStation’s biggest names are being affected by Ratchet’s new Rift Inducer. And then there’s Sunset Overdrive.
Also by Insomniac Games, Sunset Overdrive was an Xbox One launch title, available exclusively on Microsoft’s console (and PC). Following the purchase of the developer by Sony in February 2020, many hoped that the game would find its way to PlayStation eventually. A recent trademark filing certainly hinted at the possibility and then, on Monday evening, the Ratchet & Clank account tweeted the following image.
Now, of course this could be nothing. Insomniac owns the Sunset Overdrive IP (Sony owns Insomniac Games - Ed.) and is likely at license to do whatever it likes with its games. However, as E3 looms large — not that PlayStation has announced anything — are we about to be reintroduced to the wacky and vibrant chaos of Sunset City?
Whether that’s a full sequel, a remaster or both is up for debate. It may not even be any of them — and this is a lot of words to write about a developer sharing a screenshot about one of their older games — but it could be a not so subtle hint at things to come.
Also, how fun would it be if we saw some other glimpses of PlayStation Studios games when rift hopping in Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart? The game is out on June 11th, so we don’t have long to wait.
